Christine Jones

After participating in the Earth Day Webinar I sent an email company-wide mentioning ten initiatives that could benefit the company and the Earth:

1) Turn energy usage off at night (I power down each evening – including my monitor – and it saves us $ too!)
2) Turn heat down 1 degree (this will apply to less air conditioning also – and it will save us $ too!)
3) Less paper (please only print when you really need to and use double sided when you can – and it saves us $ too!)
4) Less plastic
5) Recycle
6) Green energy
7) Rethink your transportation (most of us take public transit so we’re doing great there)
8) Carpooling
9) Less meetings (more web meetings would use less energy and save us $)
10) High efficiency light bulbs (we already started this initiative and it’s saving us $!)

One major victory this led to was the elimination of cover sheets on every print out. The amount of paper wasted on this was ridiculous. Now we just encourage everyone to get up and pick up their print-outs and we eliminated that wastefulness! Hooray!
